George Beattie & Sons Ltd were contracted as subcontractors to the principal contractor to demolish, remove asbestos materials, strip out and dismantle two industrial buildings and grub up concrete hardstanding at Aberdeen Harbour.
The buildings were predominantly of steel frame construction, with steel insulated cladding and brickwork to all elevations. Considerable asbestos cement materials had been discovered within one of the buildings.
All works to be completed in the midst of a very active secure harbour facility. Logistically, all movements had to be planned so as to not effect the traffic in core hours, and to minimise congestion. Extra consideration had to also been given to the mitigation of Environmental Impact as not to effect the day-to-day running of the local business i.e. Dust Suppression.
George Beattie & Sons Ltd were required to dismantle the structural steel within the two buildings in a very limited space so a to allow continuous movement of local heavy vehicles
The properties did not contained high volumes of reclaimable building materials however we salvaged the structural steel within the properties, therefore increasing our Recycling Rate.
