we were contracted by Falkirk council to demolish a derelect building deemed unsafe. we established a lane and pavment closure to allow safe demolition of the structure. due to the close proximity to neighbouring buildings and sharing a gable wall with a scottish power substation the building was required to be partialy demolished by hand.
upon completion of making the structure safe asbestos sampling was taken of suspect materials within the building and tested by a ukas accreditated lab this returned evidence of AIB and AC. Working with our Sub-contractor all asbestos was removed with enviraz removing all licenced asbestos and ourselves removing all non-licenced asbestos.
With all asbestos removed from the building this enabled us to progress with the demolition, working off a fully boarded scaffhold errected around the building the height of the building was reduced by hand into the foot print of the building. A 16T Demolition specification excavator was then brought in to demolish the rest of the building seperating and segregating waste, all arisings were loaded into 40yrd skips and tippers and taken off site to licenced recycling facilities. Sandstone recoved from the building was then utilised to form a wall to match the existing along the site/pavment boundary and a chain fence was errected to secure the eletrical substation.
